Understanding Boss Types
In Black Myth Wukong, there are two main categories of bosses: Yaoguai Chiefs, and Yaoguai Kings. Yaoguai Chiefs work similarly to sub-bosses, while Yaoguai Kings are the principals and are fought after each stage. To embark on the game competently, it is crucial to comprehend the differences between these two types of bosses.
Here’s a light-hearted joke to kick things off: Why was it always pencil for Sun Wukong? Where he wanted them to come in the first place!
The Bosses of Chapter 1
Chapter 1 puts players in front of some rather difficult bosses. The following is a brief review of each boss followed by tips on how to beat them.
1. Bullguard
Type: Yaoguai Chief
Location: Forest of Wolves / Front Hills
Reward: Immobilize Spell
The first boss you get is Bullguard. He is located at Front Hills Keeper’s Shrine, cross the bridge and you will find him there. Although much of his behavior is quite single-minded, be careful and do not think he is easy to deal with!
If Bullguard approaches you charging, it means something like ready to strike not run up to hug you!
2. Wandering Wight
Type: Not in Journal
Location: Forest of Wolves / Beyond the Organised World
Reward: Vagrant Wight Spirit Cat Eye Beads
After the transformed dwarves you will meet Wandering Wight, the enemy which is not marked in your journal. There is nothing more discouraging than thinking that this ghost is hard to handle just because it is so fluid-like.
And in terms of how to approach each one, it’s strategic – wait for your opportunity and do not over-commit on offense. And if you see one, do not panic – it’s not October 31 yet.
3. Guangzhi
Type: Yaoguai Chief
Location: Some roads are wooded, as you get farther from people, it seems that the spectators already penetrated deep into the forest, they suddenly meet the opposite – a vast clearing, outside the forest, which is called: The Forest of Wolves.
Reward: Red Tide Spell
Guangzhi is accessible near the Wandering Wight. It turns out that his attacks have a considerable amount of health points, so be careful. To avoid getting hit again focus on using your spells effectively and continue to move around. If you see him shining, get ready to face a tough shot!
4. Lingxuzi
Type: Yaoguai King
Location: Forest of Wolves: Guanyin Temple
Reward: Grey Wolf Mask
Lingxuzi is your first professor, the first antagonist in the game Yaoguai King, and the story of the game was the grand quest of the protagonist. This boss is located at Guanyin Temple and has some rather complex attack patterns that are sure to frustrate inexperienced bankers.
Become very vigilant and wait for the right time to launch an attack immediately after he has moved. If you hear Lingxuzi howling, don’t think he is calling out to the spirit, he is getting ready to charge at you instead.
5. Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang
Type: Yaoguai Chief
Location: Bamboo Grove / Snake Trail
Reward: Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang ancestor Spirit tadpole
This chief is one of the fastest and wiser in strategy. As such, the player should watch this and avoid them while waiting for an opportunity to hit them.
So if you feel like you are getting frustrated just like the kung fu master Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang had to begin his training slow to get to where he was.
6. Guangmou
Type: Yaoguai Chief
Location: Bamboo Grove / Snake Trail
Reward: Guangmou Spirit Blood of the Iron Bull
It was a fast reaction and some sort of thinking in the head immediately after facing Guangmou. His attacks are powerful which however makes them lack variation which you will quickly notice.
Keep this in mind: If you happen to catch him practicing his big swing don’t just stand there strrr and aimlessly.
